In 2019, we were retained by Kevin, a very distraught client, who was being charged with a felony domestic violence charge. Thankfully, we were able to contact the alleged victim and meet with her and we learned that she very adamantly did not want our client prosecuted. It was clearly determined that this was not a scenario where she was a battered spouse simply feeling the need to protect their abuser. Because the client set up a meeting with us as fast as he did, we were able to act with immediacy and efficiency and submit paperwork on his behalf to the State Attorneys Office. The States Attorneys office decided to not file any charges whatsoever and dropped Kevin’s case entirely.
